Happy New Year! And believe it or not, we are almost half way through the first month of a brand new decade. (It was also my birthday!)
Mind blowing.
Generally the first week or two, people are gung-ho about starting the year off right: exercising more, making changes to their eating habits, rededicating themselves to their passions.
I have a confession, I have never been motivated to make personal changes with the changing of the year. Ever. But this year was different. This year, 2020, I made the decision to take control of my life: stop letting the rollercoaster of emotions, financial stress, and fear hold me back.
But why this year? Why now? What had changed in my life that motivated me to make such a bold (for me) move?
Answer: Being Coached. Seeking answers about myself and finding the desire to be the best version of myself.
I can hear you out there, "Of course a coach is going to say that coaching is the answer!" You caught me, I am personally biased. But it's more than that.
My amazing Coach, Jacquelyn, has helped me assess, address, and move beyond the fear and anxiety that I experience when I am trying something new or making changes. You see, I really enjoy just sticking my head in the sand and pretending that everything is fine. But that doesn't work long term: bills keep getting bigger, the house gets dirtier, relationships suffer, etc. etc.
So this year I pulled up my big-girl panties and took a long hard look at my families spending habits and ways to create a more sound financial position for us. It was not easy. It was painful and demoralizing to look at all the ways that my choices continued to place our family in financial stress. Instead of giving up and shoving my head in the sand, I made a plan. A plan that I can actually follow through with. I was no longer paralyzed by the fear that I carried with me for so long.
If you have ever thought about hiring a coach, this is the time. This is the year. How do you want to kick start this new decade?
